1981. The sun sets on 45025 on Wednesday 15th April 1981, and quite literally will do the following month, when it will simply be switched-off as one of the hit-listed locos slated for withdrawal as part of the Class 45 run-down plan. The former D19 is seen departing from Gloucester Station with 1V96 1340 Newcastle to Swansea train, which on this day was unusually formed of a rake of vacuum-braked Mark I's, in the run-up to Easter. Note the 41A stencil below the two small bolts, evidence that it carried a bona-fide shedplate in the 60's.
