1982. 46 031 and a class 50, share Laira shed with an exotic visitor in the shape of 40 025 on 19/09/1982. Note the higher placing of the OHE flashes consistent with other Peaks fitted with marker lights in late 1976.

1968. Just shy of four months since being the last class 46 to leave Brush Works, Loughborough after refurbishing, D170 brings the 1N77 0900 Liverpool - Newcastle towards journey end at King Edward Bridge Jct, Gateshead on 30/03/1968. The air reservoir for the newly fitted air brakes can be seen under the battery boxes.

1969. Many, if not all, of the Gateshead based class 46's sported a red buffer beam after their refurbishment at Loughborough, shown to good effect here on D173 hammering south on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire with what is believed to be 1V80 Newcastle - Bristol on 04/04/1969. There is a dusting of snow on Cleeve Hill, behind, despite the time of year.

1962. One-day-old D175 arrives at York piloting D50 on 1N05 (code not wound correctly) 0740 Kings Norton - Newcastle. The loco was probably attached at Derby and was removed at York, later working a Hull - Edinburgh train. 4th August 1962.
