45 056 - D91

      1963. D91 seen at Derby heading a Manchester Central - Nottingham service. The loco has the small yellow warning panel and shedplate bolts, but otherwise is as-built, with no taillight grabrails.

45 057 - D93

1961.  D93, recently to traffic in all over lined Brunswick Green livery, awaits departure from Brunel's original GWR terminus at Bristol Temple Meads with 2H74, a train to Gloucester Central, possibly the 4 17pm, which the loco worked during its first week of crew training for Bath Road depot. April 1961. Note standard position of OHE flash for a Crewe built box headcode loco and long door handles.

45 058 - D97

1961. D97 at Crewe Works before entering traffic in late April 1961. photographer unknown.

1967.  Mid afternoon turnover at Leeds. D97, left awaits the arrival of 1M87, the relief to the southbound Thames - Clyde Express. D71 on the right is backing on to the northbound relief. Sometime in 1967.

45 059 - D98

     1961. D98 getting into its stride at Kentish Town on 21/06/1961 at the head of 1H18 4 25pm St Pancras - Manchester Central.

1975. 45 059 ROYAL ENGINEER runs light as 0M50 through Bare Lane en route to Heysham to work 6M50 1803 tanks to Colwick in Nottingham. The train was booked for two 25s and rarely saw a class 45. 08/04/1975.

45 060 - D100

     1962. D100 SHERWOOD FORESTER at an unknown location, possibly Cricklewood in early 1962.

     1966. D100 SHERWOOD FORESTER has arrived at Cardiff General on 1V71 0720 from York. Unknown date in 1966.

45 061 - D101

     1961. D101 entered traffic from Crewe Works on 20/05/1961 and is seen around that date at its birthplace.

   1966. In its final months as a Brunswick Green loco, D101 arrives at Derby with 1M17 1100 Sheffield - St Pancras on 03/09/1966

1968. Probably, one of the all-time great Peak photos. June 1968, Toton, and D101, in Toton Blue livery, leads D105 in same, then two lined green examples and, finally, a rail blue loco. On the right is D2 HELVELLYN. If only, one of those lined green locos had been unlined!!!

1977. 45 061 shunting vans at Newport on 12/01/1977. The loco is sporting the 00 00 in the headcode boxes as an interim measure before having marker lights fitted, or in 061's case, dominoes put in the boxes. photo Dale Green.

1979. 45 061 is seen at Broxbourne Jct whilst towing 37 096 en route to Stratford Diesel Repair Shop on 24/11/1979.

1981. 45 061 blasts past Exminster hauling 1V62 0815 Birmingham NS - Plymouth in its final weeks of service. It had joined the train at Gloucester, having taken over from 45 053, perhaps the last time a boxed headcode loco took over from another boxed headcode loco at Gloucester.

45 062 - D103

     1961. D103 moves away from Holbeck MPD making its way to Leeds City station.  15/10/1961

1982. 45 063 has just banked the 1830 Meldon - Salisbury stone train up the bank from Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central and is about to let 47 339 get on its onward journey on 26/05/1982.

45 064 - D105

1972. Having earlier worked from Plymouth to Birmingham and then back down to Paignton, 105 was commandeered to assist the local DMU on 2B91 1725 Paignton - Kingswear and 1746 return on 12/08/1972. 159 had already been to the Devon outpost on that day.

  1978. 45 064 in 7 shop at Derby Locomotive Works on March 29th 1978 receiving repairs including new nose ends. This end was previously the loco's centre panel which it gained after a previous accident in 1968.

1983. 45 064 in charge of 1M76 0855 Newquay - Manchester at Bristol TM on 20/08/1983. The loco would work through to Manchester.

1986. 45 064, already withdrawn is in the process of having useful components removed for further use on the remaining fleet. Toton DMD 22/02/1986

45 065 - D110

       1961. D110 seen at Derby Works soon after entering traffic. 1961

       1975. 45 065 pilots 45 139 on what is believed to be 1C59 1345 Derby - St Pancras on 30/05/1975. 065 is on a Works test run after classified repair, though yet to be painted. Bill Spiby, who was on board the loco, informs that the loco had a bit of trouble with the field divert at Borrowash, but made it to Leicester and LD back to Works, from where it was released on 06/06/1975.

1982. 1V86 1035 Leeds - Paignton is seen arriving at Exeter St Davids in the trusty care of  45 065 on 19/06/1982.

45 066 - D114

      1980. Slamming through Exeter St Thomas on 23/08/1980, is 45 066 still carrying its dominos whilst working 1V86 1028 Leeds - Paignton.

1984. After arrival at Newcastle with 1E22 1004 from Newquay, 45 066 awaits the road to Heaton CS on 11/08/1984.

1988. 97 413 tows a new class 442 electric unit en route for Wimbledon or Strawberry Hill from Derby as far as Brent Jct seen at Chiltern Green on 13/05/1988. It's intereting to see the departmental number was still placed in the higher position that Crewe Works had applied the 45 066 numbers.
