Gallery 45 121 - 45 130

45 121 - D18

     1961. Twelve days into its career, and D18 is already out of traffic awaiting attention at Derby Works on 12/01/1961. As a Holbeck loco, this attention would've been done at Darlington Works where it was still present in early February.

     March 26th 1981 sees 45121 resting between duties at the fuel point in Derby known locally as 4 shed after the roundhouse that stood on this site. The loco is looking good in its 1979 Toton repaint livery with white bodyside stripes and red buffer beams.

45 122 - D11

     1960. Publicity photo of D11 before entering traffic in October 1960. Note the recessed front end doors peculiar to this and D12 and OHE flashes. Also the longer door handles and boiler water flap in place.  

1962. D11 is stabled at the north end of Doncaster station, an undated photo, but certainly no earlier than 1962 when the loco had the small yellow warning panels applied to the front end.  The loco also has a shedplate on the second man side nose-end door, presumably for 55H Neville Hill, and also now has the taillight grabrails.

1973. D11 had the D prefix painted out at Holbeck in Summer 1972 and remained this way until entering Derby Works a few weeks after this photo awaiting departure with 1E72 1605 to Leeds at St Pancras on 08/11/1973.

1986.  The 4th to last class 45 to receive an overhaul was first built   45 122, originally D11. Here it is in sparkling ex works condition inside Derby Works paint shop after overhaul on the 25th January 1986

45 123 - D52

 1980. 45 123 THE LANCASHIRE FUSILIER has just been through an E exam at Toton and been dolled up with a full repaint including axle box covers, but a main generator flashover almost immediately afterwards sees it at Derby Works awaiting attention in July 1980.

45 124 - D28

     1961. D28 at Derby Etches Park MPD in early 1961.

     1976. 45 124 stabled at the Motive Power Area(MPA) at Leeds City on a fine March morning in 1976. The loco is believed to have worked in on 1S49 0715 Nottingham - Glasgow.

     1983.  45 124 is seen outside Paddington station on the 16th December 1983. This would work the 13.07 to Liverpool as far as Birmingham.

45 125 - D123

     1984. 45 125 has brought 1V61 2355 from Glasgow into Bristol Temple Meads on the morning of February 29th 1984.

     1986. Number one end view of 45 125 on 21/05/1986 at Huddersfield working 1M26 1253 Scarborough - Bangor.

45 126 - D32

     1961.   Brand new Sulzer Type 4 1Co-Co1 No D32 in the yard at Leeds Neville Hill in July 1961, at this time she was a 17A Derby loco but was reallocated to Neville Hill in September.

     1980.  45 126 adds the usual van to the front of the 1V75, 0700 to Bristol, at Newcastle 5/8/80. The dominoes are a bit wonky! Note the position of the taillight grabrails in the box headcode style. D32 and D31 had this done at Darlington Works in 1962, when allocated to Holbeck.

     1980.   45 126 calls at Derby Station with 1E41, the 1353hrs service from London St Pancras to Sheffield on Wednesday 17th September 1980. Note the red buffer beam and (slightly) better set domino at this end.

     1987.  Cutting a forlorn figure, 45 126 has been shunted into a siding behind Tinsley depot and blocked in by other rolling stock on 26/04/1987. The loco worked its last train from York - Birmingham on 13/04 and during examination at Saltley was found to have a large bogie fractures which was enough to see it withdrawn.

45 127 - D87

     1961. Immaculate D87 about to enter revenue earning service, having worked or about to work one of the Works Test Trains, 1Z39, on or just before 24/02/1961. The loco was the first built at Crewe with the shorter handrails.

     1981. 45 128 has charge of what is believed to be 1E21 on Sunday 29th March 1981, seen at Bristol Temple Meads.

     1986. 45 128, with added high intensity headlight, runs a short rake of HAA wagons past Clay Mills, presumably en route from Toton to Burton Wagon Shops. note the unusual position of the taillight grabrails. 09/12/1986.
